In this post, I’m spilling all the tea on my cleaning routine, sprinkled with tips to make your Sunday cleaning effortless (kind of!)
Disclaimer, I have a daily cleaning routine that I try to stick to as much as I can. This routine prevents messes from pilling up and makes my weekly deep clean more manageable.
Daily Cleaning Routine:
- Make the bed
- Wash all the dishes immediately after using them or load the dishwasher
- Wipe down kitchen counters and dining tables after meals
- Declutter living spaces as I go about the day (put things back where they belong!)
- Vacuum the kitchen after cooking
- Empty the bins every night
Now let’s get to this Sunday reset. Grab all your cleaning supplies, put on some good music and let’s get cleaning!
The Sunday Reset
1. Laundry:
Sunday is Laundry Day! I usually put two to three loads to wash to set my husband and I for the week. Here’s the breakdown of how I do my laundry: Dark colours, Light colours, Bedsheets and Towels. I’ve currently switched my generic laundry detergent to this Tallow and Ash detergent – and I only have good things to say about it. It truly elevated a mundane task into a sensory ritual that I look forward to! Tip: Sort your laundry beforehand with separation baskets to save you time so you can breeze through this and get to the good stuff – cozy, fresh clothes all week long!
2.Vacuum:
Vacuum all the rooms and rugs in the house. Meet my cleaning ally – the Dyson Vacuum. This device effortlessly tackles dust and debris, leaving every nook and cranny spotless ( it is, to this day the best purchase I have ever made).
4. Wipe and Dust Every Surface:
Dust and wipe down ALL surfaces (furniture, kitchen appliances, mirrors etc.,). Say hello to microfiber cloths! These marvels enhance the cleaning process, ensuring a streak-free and polished finish. Tip: Designate a cloth for each area – kitchen, bathroom, etc. We do NOT want cross-contamination here!
3. Mopping:
Mopping is a crucial weekly step that I have to do (I live in London, this city is dirty!!!) Despite a no-shoe policy in the house I still have to go through this step. It’s like giving your floors a little spa treatment. It’s the final step to ensure your floors not only look clean but also feel clean underfoot. Tip: Mix in some floor cleaner with boiling hot water, your floors will thank you! This mop is viral for a reason and does an excellent job at making your floors spotless
5. Deep Clean Bathroom:
Elevate your bathroom cleaning routine with a mixture of vinegar and dish soap that you can store in a spray bottle. This natural solution transforms surfaces into a shiny and germ-free haven. I use this mixture to clean the toilet bowls, wipe all the surfaces and scrub the shower – it really does the trick for me . Tip: Let it sit for a hot minute before you wipe (prevents you from scrubbing too much) .I also use disposal mop sheets to clean my bathroom floors. Here’s a link to the one I use.
6. Change Bedsheets:
Changing your bed sheets is the final touch to your Sunday reset. Not only does it make your bedroom feel all cozy and fresh, but it’s also kicking out those pesky allergens and giving your skin a little extra love.
This weekly cleaning routine sets the tone for a positive week ahead. Customize and adapt this routine to fit your preferences, and enjoy the benefits of a sparkling living space every week.
